My love for Nature's Magic

I love the hard working bumblebees in my greenhouse, the potential of the squash flower, my sugar peas, my mojito mint, my broad beans, and the little green cherry tomatoes that I'm really excited about to turn red!

Oh and I just had to include Ziggy Stardust, because he has been by my side for the last week (I've been dogsitting!) and reminded me how much of a handful dogs are :) it's much easier to take care of plants!

Poppy Love

The 27th of June is a day that never goes by unnoticed in our little family.
I often wonder how life would be if you were still here ...
Happy Birthday Big Sister.
I wish I could have known you.

Hope

For 2 months now I've been hoping for things to return the way they were ...
back to what I thought (or wanted to believe so badly) was a sustainable relationship ...
But all of a sudden I remembered something from a TED video I once saw:
"Sustainability isn't all that great. We need to think in terms of regeneration."

I wish I could remember the name of this intelligent speaker.

I'm all for regeneration! Of our planet, of all life forms, of myself ... but shouldn't the same be possible for a relationship?
"To form, construct, or create anew, especially in an improved state.
To give new life or energy, to revitalize ..."
(definitions from thefreedictionary.com ;))

Thanks to all who've been such a great support during the past weeks,
I LOVE YOU ALL!
And now that I'm back on my feet, I'm so ready for the future!

Glad Midsommar!

2nd in importance after Christmas, the Midsummer celebrations are destined to be a great success even this year!
I'm having strawberries for breakfast, lunch and dinner, just because I can, and I might even dance around the midsummer pole!

Today is also my first day off in a long time, (no shortage of work for gardeners here on the island!) which is why my blog has been a little quiet ... I don't know when this will change, but for now the weather is too nice to sit behind a computer anyway, right?

Enjoy this beautiful day, and for those who need a little info about how to spend it the Swedish way ... Check out this little informative video :)

First Harvest

Basil grows really fast in my magic greenhouse. So fast I have no idea what to do with it all!
I think I'll be eating pesto with every meal for the rest of the summer :p

Let me know if you want some!

Trust in Nature

These two pictures are the proof that anyone can grow plants. If you dare to put some seeds in the ground, make sure you water regularly, and have a little bit of patience ... you can trust nature to do the rest :)

June 6th

Whenever the flags fly on Visby's ringwall you know something's up ... And it wasn't because I just got back on the island after my little trip :p

Everyone dressed up nicely ... Even the sheep-shaped road blockers!
While the king was enjoying the Young Chef of the Year's food for lunch, me and pretty much everyone else on the island got together at the Almedalen park to wait for his arrival.

The king's speech was ... well, special ...
I learned you're not allowed to make fun of his dyslexia so I won't ... but it was quite endearing how proud he is of his country.

I am too! Hurray Sweden for winning the Eurovision Songfestival.
Let's see how we do in Euro 2012 :)

Au Revoir!

Bye bye France,
Bye treehouses, swimming pool and lazy days, bye mum & little sis, smelly dog, croissants for breakfast and sauna before bedtime.
You will be missed,
but I'll be back :D

Grateful Little Sheep

Yesterday's rescue mission:
one little black sheep left behind by the herd, stuck in brambles, calling out for help that took quite a long time to respond (sorry sheep!)

After some serious cutting and clearing our little friend was freed and dashed away to rejoin the flock ...

and as we followed her to make sure she got home alright she stopped and turned to look at us ...
I'd like to interpret it as her way of saying thank you :)

Little Lawnmowers

Now here's a truly sustainable way of gardening!
A sea of little goats and sheep,
of which one got stuck and had to be rescued.
Nothing but adventures at Orion B&B!
