Bye February, see you next year!

Mimosa in full bloom must be the best thing about the month of February in the South of France.

The best thing about March is that the spring is right around the corner.
Out with the old, in with the new!
I hope everybody is busy making exciting plans for the most beautiful season of the year!

WELCOME MARCH!! February, I'm sorry, but I'm really glad you're over and done with.

Presentation of Suderbyn's future

During the last couple of weeks I've been in charge of the creation and organization of an exhibition about the future plans for Suderbyn, Gotland's first and currently only eco-village.
It was a fun but challenging month.
(and I can't say I'm sorry it's over :p)

One of the sketches presented during Monday's meeting, from Projektengagemang kring Arkitektur

Now that the 3 architect firms that were consulted for the sketching of possible future building solutions have presented their design ideas (and inspired many!) it is soon time to take down our exhibition and go on to the next phase.

Whether or not i'll be involved in that phase I'm not sure.
What is sure is that the whole thing has got me thinking even more about our lifestyle here in the west, and how living in an eco-village with focus on self-sufficiency and communal life is not as crazy as it may sound.

Nature vs. Industry

You don't need to understand Swedish to understand this.
The debate about Ojnare forest is still ongoing, but many fear the supreme court's decision will be a disastrous one ...
The next question will be how far we can go to stop the machines ... and when is it time to accept defeat ...
Or do we owe it to the next generations to keep fighting?

Drumroll Please!

This is it:
Tomorrow is the opening of the Suderbyn Ecovillage exhibition at the library in Visby!!
Whoever is in town, feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee and a chat with me & the eco-villagers at 18:00
Whoever's not, the plans for the future will be revealed on Suderbyn's website real soon, so keep an eye on it :)

Still

From colourful and warm Bali back to monochrome and cold Sweden.

Still indecisive on whether or not I should adapt my blog name to my current life style situation, which is a bit of a mess and still not at all as sustainable as I would like to pretend it is ...

Still thinking about new year's resolutions, as a new year is the best fresh start one could wish for ...

Still waiting for the writer in me to wake up again.

Still blessed to have plenty of other things to keep me busy!

Happy 2013 world! Let's make it a good one!

Oh Brooklyn, Brooklyn take me in!

One of the more surprising discoveries we made during our trip to New York was not in Manhattan ...
Rooftop bars with ridiculously expensive drinks and drunk kids with daddy's credit cards are nothing compared to this ...

Is anyone surprised I felt more at home in Brooklyn?

the Eagle street rooftop farm was only one part of the enchantment though.

Greenpoint also happens to be the home of the owner of this blog I've been following for a while so of course I was secretly hoping to randomly bump into her or spot some of her street art ...
I didn't, but then we walked past the Renegade Craft Fair at the Williamsburg Waterfront and I immediately forgot my sorrows :)

Williamsburg is also the place I had my first real HOT chocolate (with chili!), an experience I'll never forget :p

Oh and if you want to go out in New York but want to stay clear of places where you feel out of place, go to The Woods!

Not so Hidden message ...

With less than a week to go before I leave my precious island again, I feel both excited and stressed out.
I've been listening to classical music on a playlist with a title that promised me I'd calm down, but the best solution was a walk in the snow to get my thoughts straightened out ...
